The greatest civilizations known to history are the Romans, Greeks, Egyptians, the British empire, Nazi regime and in our modern days the duel between America in the land of the free and China in the far east. What made these empires and societies grandiose, majestic, powerful and historical? Did they exhibit super human abilities, endowments, powers or gifts compared to us? Honestly, I beg to differ and ascribe their success to their thought process and cultivating that into practical solutions that were tailor- made to suit their circumstances.

If you consider for a few moments the greatest inventions of the 21st century, your mind would quickly turn to the evolution of social media, smart phones, modern medicine and the use of technology in making your life easier and more convenient. Civilizations in former times had to burn down trees or walk long distances to hunt for food, gather firewood, fetch drinking water and use natural herbs. In this day and age- this has become the exception to the norm and those who are still living in the former days are doing so either out of choice and at defiance with the transformation of the world.

Now, that you have thought about the miracles of the 21st century, to whom do you ascribe the formulation and implementation of these wonderful discoveries? Mere mortals, super humans or robots? These inventors are ordinary folk like you and me that have nurtured their thinking capacity to a greater world and futuristic view that seeks to solve the world’s problems permanently. My challenge is for us as individuals, families, nations and organizations to stop being mere consumers, puppets or objects to be used by others’ but to be the creators, innovators and doers of this world so that others may download our content after we have done the hard work of uploading it!

Nations, countries and cities are thriving based on how far reaching their thinking goes. A great many end up dumping their cheap goods and services into our consumer markets simply because we have allowed them to influence our ‘mindset’ that we can’t produce them locally and lack the human capital and skills set to achieve. My brothers and sisters, these are lies and we will continue to slumber in brain atrophy and our economies will stunt because our people have stopped thinking outside the box, inside the box and towards the box to having no box at all. Other nations will leave us where they were because they have cultivated their minds and because they are so ‘smart’ they offer better terms and conditions (T&C’s) to our best doctors, engineers, educators, teachers and entrepreneurs that we lose out on the best of what we had- hence the word brain drain good people.

Though I may not like his policies and at times absurd opinions, Donald Trump the Republican presidential nominee has used his thinking to demystify America and the world at large about his chances of leading the most powerful nation in the world. Said he:

“Get going. Move forward. Aim High. Plan a takeoff. Don’t just sit on the runway and hope someone will come along and push the airplane. It simply won’t happen. Change your attitude and gain some altitude. Believe me, you’ll love it up here.” So invent the next Facebook, tweeter, video game or nano technology to influence this world or like it not you will be left behind to become a constant consumer until doomsday!
