We have been given 24 hours in a day to achieve the essential aspects of our lives such as sleeping, eating, working and attempting to fulfill our goals and plans. Despite being given the same amount time as everyone else, some of us live below our privileges and end up under performing in school, at work and in meeting our family obligations.
We should not compare our life circumstances with others but often not, we can learning something crucial about management from the individuals that we shared an experience with at school, work or church. At one point we may have been at par with them in terms of experience and financial security and a holistic outlook about life. Then, in a few years time when we meet with these same people unfortunately; the narrative has changed and we don’t have very much to discuss with them since everyone has outgrown the other.
This all boils down to the life skill of ‘management’, which when properly understood and applied can reap success for our lives in uncommon hours. When you have learned to utilize your time, your mental, emotional, financial and spiritual resources in a given day to the success of your life goals and mission; then you will be far more successful in your life than another person who has been given the same allotment of time.
For any organization or individual to be successful, the ability to lead and the ability to manage must be within their DNA. Academic, religious and social institutions often fail because those tasked with showing and leading by example lack effective management and leadership skills. The result will be strikes, destruction of property, injuries to staff and total chaos. When challenges reach a level when it has become a ‘crisis’, then it means that this principle of management has been greatly overlooked by those in authority!
The next time you meet with a former classmate or colleague and you both update each other on your lives, don’t take offense when they tell you that they are achieving success, but learn how to manage the 24 hours to your benefit so that you too will achieve your own level of life satisfaction!
