I have realized after a thorough analysis of what banks, insurance companies and brokers offer that there is no quick reach scheme in life. Anybody that tells you otherwise is out to get your money and leave you in confusion. The only way we can achieve wealth is by maximizing the individual potential that is found inside of you and like a magnifying glass stretching and increasing our vision of where we want to go!
In the beautiful story of Alice in Wonderland, the main character reaches a four-way stop and petitions the Cheshire cat, ”which way do I take”? To which the cat answers that you take any path because it will lead you anywhere you want to go! This is a parable for our lives- that in order for us to make it financially, emotionally and spiritually we need to have a sense of direction and purpose for living.
To start, we need to develop and work with a daily, weekly, monthly and even yearly budget. We need to distinguish between our needs and our wants. Once this has been established, we then need to save and invest the remaining surplus that we may have. This will require sacrifice and it may mean foregoing some luxuries in our lives but like the body builder who wants to get stronger- the more the muscles tear the more biceps the athlete is able to build and the stronger they become.
We need to be realistic with ourselves and work with what we have at hand. Jesus of Nazareth asked his disciples the number of fishes and loaves they had before he doubled it to feed the 5,000. We are also to work with what we have at hand. The salary increment may not be there, a higher paying job may be difficult to obtain and winning a lottery or jackpot is one- in- a- million so the best thing we can do is to work with our meager resources until such a time when they will produce those cherished dividends.
Besides, the salary you earn on a monthly or weekly basis; we need to think outside the box on diversifying or leveraging our incomes. Each one of us has been blessed with other talents- we need to identify, utilize and embrace them in improving our lifestyle and living standards. For example, if you’re great at telling jokes then you can seek out gigs where an MC is required and build your brand and name from there. Maybe, you have an idle plot of land that you can use to plant a nutritious fruit or staple food then you can invest some capital in this area and once you harvest; you can establish a business partnership with supermarkets that need that product at a fair price.
The only way that we will improve our situation is to plan, act and continue with it until your lifestyle improves. This begins by working with your assets, maintaining focus and drive until you achieve what you want out of your life.
