We are our worst enemies sometimes; how be it that we base our individual success on the parameters determined by someone else. We read quick self-help, motivation and auto biographies in a bid to understand what made so and so a remarkable success. We don’t take time to acknowledge the fact that everyone has their own path to take and everyone has their own life’s mission to fulfill.
I will never be Bob Collymore however, times I may try. Bob is who he is as the Safaricom Kenya LTD CEO because of who he is, what his life’s mission is and the rest can be attributed to the hand of God or perhaps for the narcissists’ chance. Sadly, the world at large and individuals keen to make their big bucks have been out there peddling the lies mingled with propaganda that if you have talents they must make you famous and they must make you an overnight success. We have thus attributed talents and gifts to success and fame; ignoring that most of the time we will not become such. This world’s resources are almost always controlled by ten percent of the world. The rich keep getting richer as the poor get poorer; irrespective of your gifts and talents you must remember that your opportunity at the creation of wealth is in the hands of the minority few.
It is time to put away foolish thoughts, time to reason, time to reflect about who you are as an individual and what your life’s purpose and mission will be. Think about the type of legacy that you want to leave behind for your posterity and for society. What is your daily motivation? What gives you that gusto and drive to get up early every morning and to work at it over and over again? What part of your life brings you the most reassurance and the most satisfaction? I believe that if you were to honestly answer these soul searching questions then perhaps you might get a glimpse of what your life’s mission entails. Once you have achieved this; then begin to chart your own life and stop trying to emulate the fame and popularity of someone else- since that was their life’s mission. Quickly make this a priority for yourself as we bid 2018 good bye and usher in a blessed 2019!
We are not left to our own blind devices on this journey called life. There will be times when you will get feelings, impressions, ideas, visions of your eternal possibilities for what your future holds and what occupation, business or institution you will be leading. Don’t ignore these glorious moments; as they mirror glimpses of radiating light when reflected upon a mirror. Don’t give up on their fulfillment or force them to happen within a specific timeline. This cannot be; be it as it took Father Abraham nearly 100 years for him to see the fruit of his loins (Isaac) and to be called the Father of many nations as innumerable as the majestic stars. However, rest assured that even the universe will conspire to make sure that we fulfill our purpose here on planet Earth and together with our own unique life’s mission.
