Isn’t it so amazing…. To be living in our day and age-where so much abounds from sumptuous food, healthy living, real time technology, tones of entertainment and the overall improved standard of living for many nationals of the world- compared to a millennia or even a decade ago!
It is in such times of living where we ought to put our best foot forward and whole heartedly embrace this concept known as ‘change management’, in every or even all facets of our working and non-working lives.
Please allow me to list for you some of the seasons in our lives where we will need to apply this crucial skill set. It’s a new role and company that you’re working for and of course they use a different operating system and workplace policies than hereto experienced; this will definitely require change management. You’ve enjoyed your bachelor or bachelorette lifestyle for many years and now decide to get ‘hitched’ by taking those life vows- and unexpectedly your whole lifestyle changes before you; this definitely requires change management. You’ve been used to providing and caring for one child and then OOPS! Your wife tells you she is pregnant- OUCH- instead of blaming her; you surely must embrace change management. At work you’ve only known one boss and have been accustomed to his/her leadership style. Then this boss earns a promotion and the company assigns you a new boss who has a totally different leadership style; guess what your solution will be- embracing change management.
Now, the biggest example of change management is when a company decides to change its operating system from the former to the latter and the employees are required to work extra-long hours, perhaps even on weekends or even on public holidays- this effort truly necessitates change management. Friends, precisely because we are living in such wonderful times where nothing- is predictable anymore- and what remains constant, is that unintended change- we must more so fully, embrace change management or we will literally be left behind.
Change management has been defined as the process, tools and techniques to manage the people side of change to achieve the required business outcome. Change management incorporates the organizational tools that can be utilized to help individuals make successful personal transitions resulting in the adoption and realization of change.
