The more and more that I interact with my friends, colleagues, managers and seniors- the greatest lesson that I am taking home with me on a consistent basis is the importance of a can-do attitude! Life is already challenging as it is and it will only continue being so. Competition and the scarcity for the control of resources is what is leading people to cling onto power, destroy nations, families, marriages and to leave strong companies broke and of no value to the market.
Everyone is out to get the bigger cake and the easier way is always the dishonest way. We all want to get the next promotion, move to a leafier neighborhood, take our children to reputable schools and live our lives as if we were on ‘cloud nine’. Yes, the easier way is the dishonest way but the best way is that of cultivating the right attitude in our lives.
We should grow up, man-up, straighten up and stop making excuses for our lives but seek solutions to our problems. The next time you’re with your boss don’t mention 101 problems that you’ve got but mention the 101 solutions and everything will change. When you’re dating or seeking a life-partner to settle down with- please forget the make-up, the educational background, work experience, beauty, color, ethnicity and focus on someone with the right attitude in life. With all things being constant these fleeting things that we admire in an individual will all go away and what will remain will be a good attitude or a lack thereof.
Now, I focused so much about cultivating the right attitude in life and neglected the ‘how-to”? Cultivate this attitude by having a thankful heart no matter the circumstance. Take time in meditation and to ponder the deep things of life. Take time to understand your inner self, strengths and weaknesses. Take time to own up to your mistakes, learn to make amends when necessary and learn to be the bigger man or woman in the room by walking out, whispering instead of shouting and not throwing out curse words that you do spoiled food.
Learn to appreciate what others do for you, learn to give out without expecting in return. The giver of the universe will always bless with more than you had given out. Learn to work and take new challenges in your life with a cheerful heart even if you don’t know where to begin. Show by your words and your actions that you are up for the task. Learn to volunteer to take on hard assignments even when you feel it is out of your potential. Learn to fill your mind with positive music, words and thoughts on a daily basis. Leave behind the filth, sleaze and vulgarity of this world behind choosing the harder road of wisdom, temperament and confidence. If you can try out and experiment upon my counsel, then you will be well on your way to achieving success in unexpected ways. I sure want to and do you?
